AMCO's new machinery increases productivity and profitability

With the aim of innovating in the Costa Rican market and enhancing its operation with the expansion of the service portfolio, the Costa Rican construction company AMCO, acquired a laser screed machine of the Somero brand for the construction of industrial floors. The equipment purchased is the U.S.-made Laser Screed S-10A model, distinguished by being lightweight, easy to carry and offering a high level of productivity.

How does it work?

The Laser Screed S-10A features a self-leveling 6-meter-long telescopic boom and a 3-meter-wide Screed head, which, through automated functions with OASIS Laser Control System (Open Architecture Somero Integrated System), a laser level sends a signal to its receivers and the one-of-a-kind Somero Quick GradeSet System. These determine the leveling and flatness with which concrete must be screeded to achieve the floor tolerances or specifications. Thanks to this system, high levels of accuracy are achieved, even offering a range of accuracy that oscillates around +/- 1 millimeter.

This feature is critical for the development of high-performance industrial flooring, also known as flats and super floors. As an expert in the concrete, aggregates, and construction segment, AMCO incorporates this equipment into its services, providing agile solutions to its customers. "With the Laser Screed S-10A, we offer our clients a lot of benefits such as access to technology, technical advice from professionals in the area, specialization and of course, saving time and money," explained Mr. Douglas Sáenz, AMCO Concrete Manager.

This machinery has a monitor that allows you to digitize the commands. It is ride on type, comfortable, easy to handle and offers optimal visibility to the operator with a range of 360 degrees, placing it in the center of the machine. In addition, it has a 35 HP Diesel engine 26 kW Kubota allows you to have the strength and power to mobilize large quantities of materials. Its three stabilizers always ensure the stability of the equipment.

Some of the main projects where this machine can be used is in industrial floors that must be resistant, durable and require a few maintenances such as warehouses, factories, clean rooms, recording studios, gyms and many more. It is also an ideal team for the development of high-performance flooring or for higher stacking spaces and allows to execute the project in an accelerated way, optimizing time and facilitating the development of the work.

Because of its features, this equipment offers a high level of productivity for both the AMCO team and customers. It can discharge up to 1 m3 per minute when normally takes 10 minutes. This is how, in a single day you can cover an area of 1000m2. For example, a project that requires to make up to 20,000m2, which would normally take between 20 days and one month, with the Laser Screed S-10A can be done in just 1 week.

Growth opportunity

For AMCO, one of the leading companies in the Costa Rican concrete market, the acquisition of the Laser Screed S-10A means a before and after in the national construction industry by bringing innovation and competitiveness. This team is the newest in the country in its category. At the regional level, few copies are available.

The S-10A laser flusher represents an investment of $150,000 and comes to strengthen the work of professionals and the entire human team. "At AMCO we are constantly looking for opportunities for improvement and growth. The acquisition of the Laser Screed S-10A responds to the need to meet market demand. It represents an improvement for our operation and solutions for our customers, offering you industrial floors of even higher quality and faster deliveries," explained Mr. Sáenz.
